Anguilla

Anguilla is a small island (16 miles long and 3 miles wide) located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. In 1980, it became a separate British Dependent Territory and has an economy that is heavily dependent on tourist dollars, primarily from the United States.

Education Context

There are six government primary schools and a comprehensive secondary school. The country spends nearly 15% of its budget on education which is free and compulsory from age 5 to 14 years. Private early childhood education is subsidized by the government. A commitment to improve teacher training is a central platform for Anguilla’s EFA plans.
