Lesson plans available! Léonie Couture and Malala Yousafzai

May 17, 2017

By profiling Canada’s own human rights stories, Speak Truth to Power Canada portrays human rights in a recognizable, local context. The website of Speak Truth to Power Canada, Defenders for Human Rights currently houses 12 Canadian defenders. At the time of launch, we were still working with one defender to ensure the lesson plan met her needs and vision.

It is now available online:

Léonie Couture, Defender for Women’s Health and Security

This lesson plan highlights the critical importance of relationships to the health, safety and personal security of women, particularly women who find themselves homeless.

Malala Yousafzai,Honorary Canadian Citizen and global defender for education for girls

All STTP Canada lesson plans will highlight global defenders that are thematic to current Canadian defender lesson plans. Malala’s lesson plan, originally developed by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights but amended to reflect Canadian education and context, is now available on our own Canadian site. Malala’s lesson plan is suitable for grades 7 to 12.
