DESCRIPTION:\nThe CTF/FCE Public Education Summit will take place from April 9 to 11, 2025, at the Rogers Centre (formerly known as the Shaw Centre) in downtown Ottawa. This biennial event invites educators, advocates, policymakers, community members and leaders from across Canada to come together and chart a path forward for public education.\n\n\n\nUnder the theme “Mapping the Way” \n\n\n\nThis event serves as a guide to navigating the challenges and opportunities that shape the future of education in Canada. As the only major CTF/FCE event open to the public, the Summit brings together a diverse community that includes:\n\n\n\n\nCTF/FCE Member, Associate, and Partner Organizations: Teachers, educators, union leaders, and staff;\n\n\n\nAcademia: Researchers, scholars, and education professionals from colleges and universities;\n\n\n\nGovernment representatives: Policymakers and leaders in the education and other public sectors;\n\n\n\nPublic education advocates and activists: Individuals and organizations committed to protecting and promoting publicly funded education;\n\n\n\nCommunity members and leaders: Individuals interested in and committed to ensuring strong public education systems across the country.\n\n\n\n\nThis year’s program focuses on three critical points of interest shaping the public education landscape:\n\n\n\n\n\nArtificial Intelligence\n\n\n\nExploring its impact on education, equity, and accessibility.\n\n\n\n\n\nPrivatization\n\n\n\nAddressing threats to the integrity and sustainability of publicly funded education.\n\n\n\n\n\nViolence in Schools\n\n\n\nIdentifying strategies to create safer, more supportive learning environments.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuided by these topics, the Summit aims to provide avenues for:\n\n\n\n\nBuilding a shared vision for a resilient and equitable public education system;\n\n\n\nFostering collaboration across sectors to advance the CTF/FCE’s strategic priorities;\n\n\n\nSharing actionable insights, best practices, and innovative solutions to strengthen public education;\n\n\n\nDeveloping clear recommendations to ensure Canada’s schools remain of high quality, inclusive, safe, and publicly funded.\n\n\n\n\nJoin us in Ottawa as we collectively map the way forward for public education.
