SUMMARY:Webinar: Unionism and collective representation
DESCRIPTION:\nUnionism and collective representation in the post-pandemic period: possible avenues\n\n\n\nFree webinar | 90-minutes (including a 10 min Q&A)\n\n\n\nThe pandemic has highlighted the importance of the teaching profession in Canada. While we have seen public appreciation of the teaching profession and school staff rise significantly, the same appreciation has not been shown by many governments. \n\n\n\nEducators’ demands for appropriate health measures in schools have not always been met with a favourable response. And there is no guarantee that public appreciation for education professionals will lead to improved governmental relations. This Podium talk proposes three possible directions as we move toward crisis recovery: \n\n\n\nStatus quoA renewed confrontational and coercive approachEfforts to foster a more collaborative approach to issues affecting the teaching profession and the future of publicly funded public education \n\n\n\nJoin us for our free webinar, part of our new Podium series offered to CTF/FCE Member and Associate Organizations and select partners. Register by March 4, 2022. \n\n\n\n\nSpeaker \n\n\n\nJean-Noël Grenier, Research Professor, Laval University  \n\n\n\nJean-Noël Grenier has been a professor at the Department of Industrial Relations at Laval University since 2004. His teaching and research activities focus on labour relations, collective bargaining, and unionism in the public and parapublic sectors. He has published a number of works on these topics, including a recent volume on teaching labour relations in public sectors. He is currently conducting collaborative research with the QPAT on how to promote the teaching profession during a health crisis. \n\n
