Emily Noble President, CTF
It is my pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to attend the 2009 CTF President’s Forum. As CTF is so often involved in major discussions with key national and international organizations that influence our education system we are exposed to a wide range of opinions and beliefs. We are in a unique position to focus on forces for change in education. This Forum is intended to expand our understanding on matters of critical concern to teachers. This year we have placed our emphasis on external testing.
The President’s Forum will provide thought-provoking presentations followed by discussion opportunities. Rather than a search for solutions (which we may all find in different places) this Forum is a sharing of perspective as we look at external forces for change, especially standardized testing.
Keynote speakers at the Forum are confirmed:
- Bernard Hugonnier, Organization for Economic and Cooperative Development (OECD): PISA Testing
- Dennis Sinyolo, Education International (EI); International Perspectives
- Raymond Théberge, National Perspectives
- David Robinson, Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT): Collegiality and professionalism
Following each presentation will be an opportunity for sharing by the participants. This is an opportunity for you to engage in dialogue with leaders in education from throughout Canada. Your input in the follow-up discussions will be rewarding for you and for others.
Cost for this Forum is $125.00 (plus GST). It will take place at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa, July 14-16 immediately before the CTF Annual General Meeting. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Marriott hotel. Register early as space will be at a premium.
I look forward to having you and your colleagues join me at the Forum.
