OTTAWA – The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) is part of the Education International (EI) 20-person delegation attending the 59th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) in New York this week. They will join approximately 80 delegates from the Canadian Labour Congress and from other global trade unions including the International Trade Union Confederation, Public Services International, the International Domestic Workers Federation, the Building and Wood Workers’ International and the International Transport Workers’ Federation. The trade union delegation will urge governments to live up to their commitments made in 1990 as part of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) especially as they negotiate a new sustainable development framework.
