October 20, 2015

Ottawa – The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) extends its sincere congratulations to the new federal government as well as to all Members of Parliament who were successful in their bid for election on Oct. 19.

“We welcome the opportunity to work with the new government as well as with all other parties in a spirit of cooperation and respect,” says CTF President Heather Smith.

“The focus of our advocacy on behalf of over 200,000 teachers is for increased mental health services for children and youth and for the elimination of child poverty. All children deserve the opportunity to benefit equally from Canada’s exemplary school system. We sincerely hope to make progress and see changes implemented as promised by the new federal government in its election platform,” concludes Smith.
